This is just a spot post to add to the last rant regarding Michelle Wie and her attempt to make the cut at a PGA event.
Michelle missed the cut with a combined score of (73-80) 153, which was good for 120th spot, 10 spots from last place. The top 50 PGA golfers were not even in the field. This was a second tier tournament where she got her ass handed to her again. When is the side show going to stop. She has to get over this delusion that she is a great golfer. Great golfers win tournaments, Michelle hasn't won a thing. I hope it helped the Reno event staff sell tickets, because that is why she was there. The more this happens, the more it is bothering tour professionals, and i couldn't be happier because of it.

Michelle Wie is a joke!
Today, the women's British Open begins. The best female golfers in the world will be competing against each other for the prestigious title. Michelle Wie on the other will be playing against the men, on the PGA tour, in the Lake Tahoe Reno Open. I am glad, that i am not the only one who thinks that this is complete bullshit!
Anika Sorenstam, the best women's golfer for the past few years had this to say about Michelle playing this week against men. You know, I really don't know why Michelle continues to do this," Sorenstam said. "I mean, we have a major this week, and if you can't qualify for a major, I don't see any reason why you should play with the men."
Here is some of her great accomplishments. Since turning pro in 2005, she has played in 32 events on the LPGA and PGA tours, and won a total of 0 tournaments. She has been disqualified from tournaments 2 times in those 32 starts. She has tried 8 times to make a cut on the PGA tour and has failed every time.
Let's be honest people, this has nothing to do with her golf ability! She has not won a tournament of any kind since she was 13 years old. She has never won a tournament since turning pro in 2005. The truth of the matter is that she is a good looking, 18 year old female, that will be a draw because of her looks, not her game. If she was 250 lbs and ugly, would she be playing this week on the PGA tour??? I think we all know the answer to that question. The Reno Tahoe Open, is a second tier tournament, the top 50 golfers are competing at the World Golf Championships this week, and the women are competing for the British Open. So Michelle's parents, agent, sponsors and the PGA tour think she should play the Reno Tahoe Open??? They are all responsible for whoring the girl out for years and they should all be ashamed of themselves. They are making money of this girl, with little to no regard for whats best for her. I use to feel sorry for her because of all the people who manipulate her. The fact is , she is now 18 years old, going to college, so she should know better at this point.
I don't know why the PGA tour is still allowing this? I don't know why her parents push her to play against men? I don't know why her agent thinks this is a good career move? Maybe, just maybe, it may have to do with the ton of cash that the girl generates. She is the Paris Hilton of the sports world. Anna Kounikova move over, Michelle is taking your spot. This entire mess called her career is really beginning to look like a B.T.Barnum production, and she is the sideshow. It has nothing to do with winning, or even trying to be the best, at least not from the people who control her. They are milking this cash cow for as much as they can get, unfortunately, its not over yet. This week Michelle's goal will be to make the cut. Wow, that's a great goal, i want to be 56 place. I really showed them that i could play.
My other complaint about Michelle playing on the PGA tour is that she is a woman. You have your own tour to play on, its called the LPGA tour. If we are going to have it this way, why can't some of the guys play at the Female British Open this week? Its nothing more than a sideshow attraction. These type of things are best saved for skins games in the off season. Michelle is taking a spot away from some PGA tour pro who is trying to earn his card for next year.
This is the same rant i have all the time, i just hate double standards. This week i will play on the LPGA tour, next week the PGA tour, the week after i play for my college team. What in God's name makes you so fucking special? Oh I'm sorry, your beautiful and gifted, you can do whatever you want. In my world, you are a sad, pathetic, manipulated little child, who thinks her shit don't stink. Reality check...you suck! I have won as many tournaments as you have on the LPGA and PGA tour.
I will be watching golf this weekend, keeping an eye on all the tournaments. Like many people, i will be watching Michelle, hoping she once again falls flat on her face, and maybe this time, learning the lesson that she doesn't belong on the PGA tour.
Now to everyone who thinks that i am an ass, i am. I don't hate the girl and i wish her success on the LPGA if and when she decides that that is enough for her. Take control of your life Michelle, get rid of the leaches in your life and decide what you want. Stop being someones puppet. You had a promising career, but then you became more of a celebrity and less of a golfer. Careers are defined by wins and accomplishments, not cuts made.

Being a Toronto Maple Leaf Fan Sucks!
My hockey memories started like most youngsters in Canada, in front of the TV on Saturday night watching Hockey Night In Canada (HNIC). If you came to visit my house on Saturday night, you could be sure of two things, that HNIC was on TV and if you wanted to visit, you watched the hockey game. There was always food and drink to be had, and the heated discussions in between periods was usually not for my ears, but it didn't matter, you could hear my father complain loudly about the Leafs where ever you were. I think the first time that i heard my father swear, was to curse on Harold Ballard. I guess because of this, i became a Leaf fan, not that i really had a choice.
Being a Leaf fan is not easy. First, its you against everyone else. Ever sports league has that team, the one that nobody likes and everyone hopes will lose. In hockey, that team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Being a Leaf fan since birth, i was born to carry the burden for rooting for an organization who it seems, is determined not to win. I remember my first lesson in economics in hockey. This is when my father explained to me why my favorite players were being traded from Toronto to places like, Buffalo, Colorado and Philadelphia. He said that if you ask Harold Ballard for too much money, you would be traded. Being a naive child, i asked, isn't it about winning? Not for the Leafs it isn't.
The end of the Ballard final arrives and the people rejoyce. Everyone blamed Harold for the Leafs lack of success because of his unwillingness to pay top salaries to top guys. With him no longer controlling the purse strings, the team is going to win again, so everyone thought. In 1992-93, there was a brief glimpse of a better team and the hope of winning again. Unfortunately, it was over, really before it started and the team never got close since.
Fast forward to 2004 and John Ferguson Jr has come to save us and build a team to win. Ken Dryden tried for alittle while, but we all know that his heart is not in hockey, and he was fired and went back to politics, or anything besides hockey ( Thanks Ken) . Since JFJ took over the hopes of the Toronto Faithful has been to just make the playoffs. We are not rooting for a Cup, we just want to make 8th place! If can only make the playoffs, well then who knows what we can do? What kind of fucked up logic is this? Some how, they have managed to sell the fans on the idea that just making the playoffs is great.
When did being mediocre become something to shoot for? This mentality starts from the top, with the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund and Richard Petty and has worked its way through the entire organization. No one is ever going to convince me that winning is more important than how much they are making. I don't think the OTPF were so passionate about the Leafs, that they couldn't wait to buy them. This is an investment, it has nothing to do with passion for the sport or for the Leafs.
Richard Petty decides that JFJ has not done the job and needs to be removed. This is the same man who hired JFJ, and then 4 years later says that maybe it was a mistake hiring someone with no experience. WOW, you really think so DICK! So what does Richard do now, he dusts off Cliff Fletcher and bring him back as interm GM. They bring him back before the trade deadline so he could make a few moves. Big trouble with that move, the last GM signed the top 5 guys to no trade clauses. So you are stuck with them . Cliff managed to get a few draft picks for a few guys and i thought that we maybe taking a step in the right direction. Cliff also managed to whine constantly about how his hands are tied and he couldn't do anything. Wow, back in the role for a few days and making excuses already on why you can't make the team better. This was also a great time to buy out a few players, Raycroft and Tucker, if they are not in the plans for next year. This way, you make places available so you can call guys up from the minors(Poggee) and give them a shot and see how they do. Did Cliff do any of this, no. So we go to draft day, and we trade a 2nd and 3rd round draft pick so we can move up 2 spots in the draft and pick 5th overall. If management was doing their job, they could of had the 5th pick overall and still had the 2nd and 3rd round picks. Did they do what was necessary, no. You dont ask coaches or players not to try their hardest. Managements job is to plan for the future. The difference between 5th and 7th spot was 4 points or 2 wins less. So the team is not good enough to win, but to good to lose, so it could get better.
Now we come to free agent signings. We sign Cujo to back up Toskala, which means that Justin Pogee will never see the light of day with the Leafs. Pogee should be the back up this year and get 30 starts, sort of like Price did in Montreal last year, until he took over. We sign Jeff Finger to a 4 year 14 million dollar contract. Who the fuck is Jeff Finger? I have never heard of this guy and i watch alot of hockey. Is this team trying to rebuild? I can't tell anymore with what's being done in Toronto.
The best part of this, is the fact they have been looking 6 months for a replacement for Cliff Fletcher. Even went so far as to hired people to help Richard Petty look for another GM. There conclusion after 6 months, a list of 5-6 guys that they would love to have. The only problem is, these guys all have jobs. They are the same names that anyone can come up with in 10 seconds. Why do people automaticly think that they would even want to go to Toronto. So what does Leaf management decide to do, lets keep Cliff here for another year and then see if we can get the GM we want next year. So they are willing to wait a year for the right GM, but would not buy out or release players at the trade deadline to ensure a better draft pick and also give minor league guys a chance to show their skills with the big club. So whats the plan here guys?
So the bottom line is that they don't want to lose, but they don't want to win either. The things they have done, says that they are trying to just be mediocre. I, for one, have become tired of the complacence of the Toronto Maple Leaf Management. I am tired of the Toronto media talking about the Leafs like Toronto is the best place in the world to play hockey. I am tired of the OTPF and Richard Petty running the Leafs team into the ground. Financially they are great, which is some of the problem.
Nothing would please me more then to see the Air Canada Center empty. I would love to see empty seats, game in and game out. I would love to see ratings of HNIC fall. Maybe, just maybe that would force them to give a shit and try a little harder. The facts remain that Toronto fans will sell out the ACC every game even if they put skates on monkeys. It doesn't matter, the fans will still buy tickets, the fans will still tune in and watch and the Toronto Management will still do a half assed job, while trying to convince all of us that they care.
When was the last time, as a leaf fan, you thought the team was going in the right direction? Year after year, i complain about leaf management, scouts, players, coaches, stick boy, organist, etc...Faces change in the organization, but the mentality of losing is still the same and just making the playoffs is a great accomplishment. We are on the longest stretch in history for Toronto not making the playoffs, and i bet any money that we can add another year onto that after this season. I would be happy if we were trying to win, or i could even accept losing for awhile if it meant we would get better in the future. Trying to be mediocre, i can not accept anymore as a fan. My passion for the Leafs will come back, i believe, when the passion returns to the Toronto Maple Leaf Organization. Until then i will be rooting for them to lose, because in this fans eyes, its what's needed and the best possible thing for this team. Losing is the only way to ensure change.

The problems with professional sports
I have been a sports fan forever and I grew up playing and watching most sports. In the last 20 years, sports have changed for the worst, and its not getting any better. I will try and explain the downfall of professional sports. Lets have a look at the major sports leagues, NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA.
The NFL is having huge image problems with its players, management, coaches, etc. The commissioner had to implement a conduct policy because so many of their players were getting arrested and having trouble off the field. We all remember Mike Vick problems with dog fighting, Pacman Jones involved in a gun fight outside a strip club. Then there is the Patriots and spy gate, and the trouble surrounding video taping. Now the owners have opted out of the current contract and will have to get a new one in place soon or face a work stoppage. Here is a league that has huge image problems. I would bet that there are more criminal records in the NFL than any other league. The Bengals had 8 active roster members who got in trouble with the law in one off season. Come on guys, whats the problem here. You can make your own conclusions from this statement. The 2 most successful franchises over the past 5 years have been the Colts and the Patriots, the 2 whites teams in the league. The easy answer to this question, i must be a racist and this is all just propaganda. The other possible answer, maybe i am right and there is a direct link between race and conduct. This is the place where no one wants to go. Questions should be asked, but they wont be, because race is an issue that nobody wants to talk about.
MLB and steroids. Thank you Bud Selig for being the caretaker of the game during the whole steroid era! How do the owners respond to this fact, they give him a raise and a contract extension. Now you know why baseball is screwed up! The mitchell report came out and now the average fastball is down by almost 2MPH and home runs are down in both leagues. At the end of the season at the current pace, there will be 1000 less home runs then last year. There is also the problem with baseball of no salary cap. So every year we have to watch the richest teams fight it out. I know that there are exceptions to every rule, but the money teams usually win. The officials have been brutal this year. Home runs are doubles or foul balls, there are missed calls and wrong calls every night. 75% of owners want instant replays for home run calls, but Bud Selig doesn't want them. When are these commissioners going to listen and stop running their leagues like a dictatorship.
The NHL needs to stop screwing around with things. Every off season the first thing is to change a bunch of rules. Second, lets do whatever we can to market this game in the US. What about Canada? Once again, the NHL is run by a little troll who does not want another team in Canada. Lets get a team in Kansas or Oklahoma, but not Winnipeg or Hamilton. There are people (Jim Big Balls, i own blackberry Ballsilee) who desperately wants a team, but Gary doesn't want him to have a team. The Instigating rule is stupid and over 75% of players want it gone, has the league listened....no. The refs have the hardest job of reffing a league where the rules always change.
The NBA and the "fixed" games. Games are in question of being fixed from past playoff series by a former ref. He has said that games in the 2002 playoff were fixed. Its funny because when the games took place, there were questions that day of the game being fixed and the refs being bias. One of the coaches got a record fine for asking such a question. Now years later, that same series has been called in to question again. Looking at the job that the refs are doing in the LA vs Boston series, is no wonder people are questioning weather these games are legit. When a Boston bench player has more fouls in 15 minutes of playing then the Lakers did in the whole game, there will be questions. The commissioner David Stern is widely regarded as an idiot. He will not even listen to the possibility that other officials could be involved. He thinks that its one ref who got caught cheating trying to save his own skin. Maybe he is trying to save his skin, but maybe he is also telling the truth. David Stern would rather jam his head in the ground and pretend everything is OK. The only problem with this is, some people, including myself, think that basketball is almost the same thing as WWE wrestling. Great athletes, but the outcome is predetermined by management.
Professional sports are becoming less about the sport and more about the money and business side of things. Owners have no loyalty to players. Players have no loyalty to teams and owners. The only place i see loyalty in sports are the fans to their teams. Personally, i have been questioning my own loyalty to teams and organizations. I have become a fan of players, more so then teams. The things that use to make these leagues great has been disappearing for years, and i hope that someone realize this before its too late. The games were played for the love of the sport, but now its the love of the money. I remember hearing stories of the old time baseball players, who played their whole career in order to buy a farm and retire, played for the love of the game. Now all i see are rich athletes who sign $100 million dollar contracts, and the minute someone else makes more, they wont play until they make the most.
I am not really sure where this is all going, but i am sure that i don't like it so far.

Hockey Night in Canada, never the same again!
So Canada's second anthem has been bought and sold this week at the horror of many Canadians! Some say that Saturday night will never be the same again. For 40 years we have heard Dolores Claman's iconic song, known as "The Hockey Theme" at the beginning of HNIC, but that time has come to an end. This week the songs rights were sold to CTV for a reported $3 million dollars. CTV plans to use the song for their Wednesday night show as well as the Olympics.
I understand where all the parties were coming from on this issue, I just wish we could lose the spin. First of all, CTV did not "save" this song from oblivion like they have been saying. I am pretty confident that the song would not be forgotten, and was not going anywhere that Dolores Claman didnt want it to go.
Second, Dolores Claman had the ability to sell the song to whom ever she wished to, and she did. It is her song and she had the right to do with it as she wished. So, please stop trying to convince everyone that the song was going to slip into oblivion, as you have been saying. If it did, it would have been because you wanted it too.
Third, the CBC could not afford the price tag for the song. Since have the funds come from tax dollars, it would be a very tough arguement to justify the price. On the other hand, some say that CBC just ruined the only good show that they have. There are some strong feelings from across Canada on this issue.
My opinion, i think that all parties involved in this process are a bunch of greddy, lying pig fuckers. The CBC screwed Dolores out of money from ring tone sales and downloads, to which she became very pissed off and bitter. Dolores then sells the song to CTV, the highest bidder and rival hockey station, but clames that its because she wants to save the song......right. CTV jumps on the "saving" bandwagon, the whole time promoting their new hockey line up and schedule. The whole time loving the fact that they were able to put the screws to the CBC. Everyone involved in this mess are to blame for the anger of many Canadians. Am i pissed that the song will not be on Saturday night hockey on CBC anymore, your damn right i am. Is it going to make that big a difference to the show, i really doubt it. I think the thing i am pissed off with the most, is the fact that all parties are lying through their teeth about what they did and how they did it.
Its all about money, Dolores wanted cash and CTV could pay more than CBC, end of story. All the rest is a smoke screen of public relations horse shit.

Oh this pisses me off!
Has anyone heard this story. Its a story of a South African named Oscar Pistorius who was born without fibulas in both legs due to a congenital condition. He has set records in the 100, 200 and 400 meter sprints at Paralympic events, while running with the aid of carbon fiber transtibial artificial limbs. These limbs are refered to as "Cheetahs". This is a great story upto this part, now is where i become pissed off.
Oscar wants the opportunity to compete at the Beijing Olympics, but not in the Paralympics, Oscar wants to compete with able bodied athletes. In January the track and field's governing body said prosthetic blades give the South African an unfair advantage over able-bodied runners. So they ruled that he was not permitted to partisipate.
The International Association of Athletics Federations said in its January 14 verdict that Pistorius' "cheetahs" are considered technical aids and are in clear violation of an IAAF rule.
The IAAF said it used the results of an independent scientific study carried out by Professor Peter Bruggemann at the German Sport University in Cologne to weigh its decision. The study compared Pistorius with five able-bodied athletes who are capable of similar levels of performance at 400 meters. In conclusion, the study showed Pistorius was able to run with his prosthetic blades at the same speed as the able-bodied sprinters with about 25 percent less energy expenditure. As soon as a certain speed was reached, running with the prosthetics needed less additional energy than running with natural limbs, according to the study.
In its Friday ruling, the Court of Arbitration for Sport( CAS ) panel determined that the IAAF Rule 144.2(e) -- use of any technical device that incorporates springs, wheels or any other element that provides the user with an advantage over another athlete not using such a devise -- was likely adopted in March of 2007 with Pistorius in mind, and that the testing done in Cologne was likely distorted against Pistorius.
So now if he can make the qualifying times, he can partisipate in Beijing.
The facts above were gathered from a TSN article.
Let me first start off by saying this is the biggest joke that i have ever seen. I get pissed off when people want to cross over like this, i will give examples. Michelle Wei trying to compete against men on the PGA tour, big joke, should never happen. Its a stunt, nothing more.
Now, everyone probably thinks that i am being mean or discriminating against him because he has no legs, guess what, it IS because you have no legs! You do not meet the requirements as an able bodied athlete and you are using aids to help you, but people are afraid to speak up because of a fear of looking like they dont care or are discriminating against a person with a disability. This is the reason we hold an Olympic Games, Paralympics and Specail Olympics was to give a level playing field for all athletes. I really hope that he does not qualify for the Olympics, because he shouldn't be given the opportunity. If this makes me a heartless bastard, so be it! I just see it as a slippery slope, when we start opening open options like this. What if i could get metal implants that helped me run, are they legal? How about bionic knees? The IOC and every sports body say that they want a level playing field for our athletes, hence the reason steroids are looked down upon. So how can someone look me in the eye and say that its a level playing field, when one person doesnt have feet? He has spring like devices called "cheetahs", come on people. Have we gotten so politically correct that we are afraid to say these things? I just hope that we dont have to have this discussion in Beijing. What if he wins a medal, what then?

Addictions and Diseases are Different.
I thought that I knew the difference between an addiction and a disease, I’m not quite sure anymore. The definitions are becoming blurry and the lines between the two, not very clear. I began to ask myself why are these lines becoming unclear, and who is to blame? Who benefits from these lines becoming blurred? I think that I may have come up with some answers!
Let me first start out by giving you a definition of an addiction and a disease. As I said earlier the differences between the two are in question, so as you would expect, the definitions are a little different depending on which one you read. Here is a general definition of both.
An addiction is a recurring compulsion by a person to engage in some specific activity, often to their own detriment.
A disease is a departure from a state of health, a condition of mind or body marked by definite symptoms and signs that impairs the bodily functions.
Now, the problem is that any addiction that affects your health, people want classified as a disease. What people you may ask? I think the drug companies and doctors who make billions of dollars every year love finding new things to treat. The more sick people there are to treat, the more money they make. We all know there is no money in curing people, but keeping them sick and medicated makes money and that is good business.
Who else may have a reason to make addictions diseases? How about Hollywood PR people? Companies are paid millions of dollars every year to spin peoples mistakes and bad press into a positive out come. Life gets much easier for PR companies when you can say that he/she has a disease that they are battling, and needs to seek treatment. They are taking this way to far in my opinion. Ashley Simpson was caught lip syncing on Saturday Night Live and blamed it on acid reflux. What in god’s name does acid reflux have to do with you lip syncing? Nothing, not a god damn thing, that’s what! I’m sure we all remember Mel Gibson’s little rant he had regarding Jews. It wasn’t Mel’s fault, he was drunk. His addiction to whiskey is to blame, and that’s not his fault, it’s a disease. Here’s a news flash for everyone, drinking does not make you a racist, pedophile, murderer, etc. If you are an asshole and you drink, you become a bigger asshole. If you are a racist and drink, you become a bigger racist; Jack Daniels had nothing to do with it. Being a drunk or drug addict is wrong and gets no sympathy, but having a disease that you are battling is noble. It’s all about spin.
The term addiction is often reserved for drug addicts, but it is now being applied to other compulsions, such as gambling, sex, tattoos, pornography, computers, cutting, religion, and sugar, just to name a few. I just checked the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and its lists none of these as diseases. Do you want to know why, because they are not diseases, they are addictions. I believe that we are all born with free will, and with free will come choices. I can decide to stop drinking or smoking, but I can’t decide to stop having Cancer or Aids. Why, because one is an addiction and one is a disease.
This is where the line between addiction and disease cross. Some disease cause addictions, but are diseases. Some addictions cause diseases, but are still addictions. Obesity is one of those conditions that get classified as both. People can be addicted to eating, or have problems losing weight due to gland problems and therefore making it a disease. People, who eat McDonalds 5 days a week and get no exercise, do not have a disease. They are just addicted to McDonalds and are lazy, that’s a choice.
Hell, you even have people now who think that being gay is a disease and if you get counseling, it will go away. I just think that we have become a society that has no idea how to take responsibility for its actions! When was the last time someone stepped up and said yep, it was me, I fucked up. No one takes responsibility, they just MISREMEMBER things! I am tired of movie stars, athletes, politicians and everyone else in the public eye being given a free pass when it comes to accountability. Stop blaming addictions/diseases for your stumbles in life. We fall in life in order to learn how to pick ourselves up. If you do not learn from your mistakes, you are bound to relive them until you learn the lesson you were suppose too.
Life is much easier when you can just blame it on a disease. Show some strength of character and have some accountability for your addiction if you have one, it’s the first step in dealing with addiction, that’s acceptance.

Letter to the IOC
Dear IOC
I am appalled that a commuist country with the human rights problems of China would be given the Olympics. In my opinion, the IOC should be ashamed of itself. The IOC has dropped the ball on this one, and now it’s trying to spin things so they don’t look like complete fools. Why don’t you award the next Olympics to Iraq or North Korea?
The IOC says that the Olympics were given to China because 1/5 of the worlds population lives there and they had a good bid. If you did give the Olympics to China for those reasons, fine, that’s your decision. (It wouldn’t have been mine). My problem was that there were no bench marks put in place to make sure that China was doing everything it had promised in order to get the Olympics. The Chinese said they would open up and show the world their great culture and heritage. It seems to me that was lip service to get the Olympics, and now that they have it, they are going to do whatever they want to do. If any country is vocal regarding problems with China’s performance thus far, they are threatened with economic sanctions. The Olympic website asserts that the Olympics are not political. I could not disagree more; the Olympics have always been political: Munich was political, Los Angeles was political and Moscow was political. The very reason that China received the Olympics was political.
Since most world governments get so much of their trade from China, they are all too scared to say anything to the Chinese, regarding Tibet or their human rights record. I am also finding that a lot of the real news is not being reported because of fear and threats made by the Chinese Government. The Chinese government is presently in the process of suing CNN for comments made by Jack Cafferty, a CNN host. He referred to the Chinese Government as a bunch of “goons”. I am sure that this is just the beginning of the Chinese trying to control the flow of information in and out of China.
Now, we are just months before the Olympics and what do we see or hear? We hear athletes talking about there fears about going to China. I hear reporters talking about making out their will before they go cover the Olympics. We see daily protests shadowing the torch, where ever it is being run. I read today that British athletes were asked to sign documents that state they will not say anything political against the Chinese government. If they don’t sign the documents, they cannot participate in the Olympics. This is a great way to prove how screwed up things have gotten, so far.
I hope that by awarding the Olympics to China it has a huge impact on the region. I hope that there are marches, protests, demonstrations, etc. You put reporters and journalists from 200+ countries in a communist country and expect protestors not to take advantage of this? When things go bad in China, which will happen, the only question is how it will be reported? Will the media be able to report what happens? Will they have access to the athletes and to outside the venues? For example, I have heard that videos and interviews will not be allowed from Tienamin square. Great job IOC, you have made the Olympics a protesters dream!
If you look at the comments that have come from China regarding the torch run, you would never know that there were protests. According to China, the torch has been met warmly where ever it has been. Communist propaganda I think it is called! Let’s all look back to when the torch was run from country to country first. I remember reading that it was Hitler’s idea to run the torch through all the countries that he had conquered to show power and strength. That run ended with the torch in Berlin, and the stadium torch being light with 3 swastikas in the background. Politics has nothing to do with the Olympics right?
When accountability is needed, and it will be needed, I hope that the head of the IOC takes responsibility for the mess that he and the IOC have helped create. When something happens, and it will, it won’t be the fault of an athlete, reporter or protester. I can hear it now, how did something like this happen? I will tell you how this happened. Things like this happen, when good people do nothing. When the Olympics are over, I am sure there will be enough blame to go around, but how much accountability will there be, is the question?
The IOC and the Chinese Government may be able to convince the sheep of the world that everything is fine and going to be fine. Those of us out there, who are free thinkers and question things, know the truth. You can not silence everyone.
